Tonight, the movie on deck was YES Man. I didn't really have any expectations going in, except thinking it would just be a tweaked version of Liar Liar. It blatantly followed the same plot line; Jim Carrey's character is a dick at the beginning, but when forced to do nothing but (in this case) say YES to every opportunity that comes along, his life is changed for the better. Apparently the very night you start saying YES to everything, you end up on a scooter with Zooey Deschanel! Who is (As always) delectably adorable, refreshingly unaffected by her coolness-which is exemplified when we see her in the film singing in an all girl band called Munchausen. Jim Carrey is funny as hell as always, although his face has grown older from all of his contortionisms over the years. I must say i was pleasently suprised by this one, it had that perfect Judd Apatow-esque comedy/romance ratio, where just before you think you want to barf (or cry if youre single) they make you laugh. I must say I'm not shocked since the writer, Nick Stoller directed one of my personal faves, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Everything the Apatow gang touches, turns to gold. So if youre not in the mood to kill yourself skip: Milk, The Reader, and Doubt, but if youre looking for something light hearted, that will inspire you to go do something fun with your life, go see YES MAN!
